Cano homers twice, Burnett sharp as Yankees shut out O's

Baseball Betting Lines

04/29/2010 - Baltimore, MD (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Robinson Cano hit a pair of solo home runs during a three-hit effort, and A.J. Burnett tossed eight shutout innings to lift the Yankees to a 4-0 victory and a series win over the Orioles.

Burnett (3-0) scattered three hits and a walk while fanning four and worked into at least the seventh inning for the fourth straight start.

Marcus Thames went 3-for-3 with an RBI double in the victory, New York's second straight since dropping the opener of this three-game set Tuesday.

Brian Matusz (2-1) took his first loss, as the rookie left-hander gave up three runs on nine hits in six innings for Baltimore, which has yet to win a series in the young campaign. The Orioles registered a mere three hits in defeat, the club's MLB-leading 18th of the season.

Derek Jeter opened the game with a single, moved to third on a Mark Teixeira double and scored on Alex Rodriguez's sacrifice fly.

Cano, who raised his average to .407, crushed a high breaking ball into the seats beyond the right-center field wall for a 2-0 lead in the fourth.

Back-to-back doubles from Cano and Thames brought in another run in the sixth, and Burnett stranded runners on the corners in the home half by getting Miguel Tejada to fly out deep to center.

Cano struck again in the eighth, sending an Alberto Castillo offering just over the short wall adjacent to the right-field scoreboard.

Burnett retired the final eight hitters he faced, and with a pitch count at 116, the Yankees took the starter out in the ninth. Mariano Rivera worked around a one-out walk to finish off the shutout.

MySportsbook.com favors Bears, Bengals, Chargers and Colts to remain perfect

LAS VEGAS , Sept. 28 - Two big match-ups of undefeated teams have fans salivating at the Week Four schedule in the NFL. The Chicago Bears stifling defense looks to provide a less than hospitable welcome to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night in a battle of two 3-0 teams in the NFC conference. In the AFC, the San Diego Chargers (2-0) head to Maryland to face the surprising Baltimore Ravens (3-0) as both try to keep pace atop the conference standings. Betting Lines makers at MySportsbook.com, online sportsbook and casino, have set the Bears as 3.5 point favorites while the Chargers are a 2.5 point bet.

Of the three remaining undefeated teams, only one, New Orleans, enters this week's game as an underdog. Despite an emotional and resounding win over Atlanta on Monday night, the Saints are a 7.5 point underdog against the struggling Carolina Panthers. Indianapolis looks to stay perfect when they face the New York Jets as a 9 point road favorite while the Cincinnati Bengals are a 6 point favorite at home to the New England Patriots.

Six teams enter the week still looking for their first win, with a seventh, Tampa Bay, on a bye week. The prospect of dropping another game would not bode well for a potential playoff run. Since 1990, just three teams -- the 1992 Chargers, 1995 Detroit Lions and 1998 Buffalo Bills -- have overcome losing their first three games of the season to earn a postseason berth. And only the Chargers managed to accomplish the feat after starting 0-4.

The Wings will look to offensive powerhouse Pavel Datsyuk and newly appointed captain Nicklas Lidstrom to lead one of the league's most prominent franchises.

Always a threat are the Ottawa Senators, with newly acquired goaltender Martin Gerber from the Stanley Cup champion ,Carolina Hurricanes. The Sens are second best in the rankings at a 7-1 bet, and odds makers at this sportsbook are optimistic that the Ottawa squad will fare better than last season's Eastern Conference semi-final upset to the Buffalo Sabres.

Also worth noting are the defending Stanley Cup champs Carolina Hurricanes, a 10-1 bet to repeat. Behind the Canes are the New Jersey Devils, Calgary Flames, Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers, and Anaheim Mighty Ducks all sit at 12-1.
