Bulls hit the road to Washington
Basketball Betting Lines
04/02/2010 -
(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Chicago Bulls will tune up for a crucial upcoming
homestand with tonight's visit to the Verizon Center, where they'll take on a
Washington Wizards team aiming to win back-to-back games for the first time in
six weeks.
Chicago stands two games behind Toronto for the eighth and final playoff seed
in the Eastern Conference with only eight remaining in the regular season.
Following tonight's matchup, the Bulls will play consecutive home tests
against Charlotte, Milwaukee and Cleveland -- three teams currently in
position to land a postseason berth.
But first Chicago will have to deal with the also-ran Wizards, who finally put
an end to a franchise-record 16-game losing streak with Wednesday's 96-91
triumph at New Orleans. Washington had not won since posting an 89-85 road
decision over NBA-worst New Jersey on February 28.
Mike Miller poured in a game-high 27 points to lead the Wizards on Wednesday,
with Andray Blatche adding 23 points and Shaun Livingston contributing 18
along with eight assists.
"It felt good to get that win, to break that negative streak," said Blatche.
"All the guys came out and played hard this whole road trip."
Washington now returns the Verizon Center seeking to end a string of eight
straight home losses that followed a 101-95 victory over the Bulls on February
22. The Wizards last won two in a row from February 17-19, when the club came
out of the All-Star break to top Minnesota and Denver.
The Wizards will have to do so without the services of two key players,
however. Forward Al Thornton is expected to sit out a fifth straight contest
with a hip flexor injury, while guard Randy Foye is likely out for the rest of
the season after tearing a ligament in his wrist in a March 26 loss at
Charlotte.
Chicago kept itself in the playoff race by winning four times in a five-game
span from March 20-28, but didn't help its chances by dropping a 111-105
verdict at home to red-hot Phoenix on Tuesday. Channing Frye hit a tie-
breaking three-pointer with 41.6 seconds remaining to lift the Suns.
After Bulls guard Derrick Rose knotted the score at 103-103 by sinking two
free throws barely inside of a minute left, Frye then rose up and drained a
shot from the top of the arc to put Phoenix in front. Rose countered with a
quick layup, but the Suns' Steve Nash found Grant Hill for a jam on the
ensuing possession for a 108-105 lead.
A missed three-pointer from Rose then ended up out of bounds, and Nash made
two foul shots with 13.1 seconds left to seal the victory.
Rose finished with 23 points and 10 assists, while Flip Murray had 23 points
and grabbed nine rebounds for the Bulls.
Chicago did sustain a notable injury during the game, as guard Kirk Hinrich
did not play the second half after spraining his left ankle. The former first-
round pick, who's averaging 10.3 points and 4.5 assists per game, is
considered questionable for tonight's tilt.
The Bulls will be vying for their fifth win in their last seven matchups with
Washington. The Wizards avenged a double-overtime road loss to Chicago in
January with their February 22 besting of the Bulls.

Will Ohio State continue to run the table in College Football betting odds?
MySportsbook.com favors Buckeyes, Fighting Irish and Golden Bears in this weekend's big games.
NEW YORK, NY, Sept. 21 - My Sportsbook NCAA football fans: things are beginning to get really interesting on college football's national stage. Following last weekend's "Separation Saturday", which included five teams ranked in the top 15 dropping games, the BCS Championship picture is beginning to take shape - with Ohio State leading the charge. And, according to odds makers at MySportsbook.com, the number-one-ranked Buckeyes will continue their winning ways this weekend.
Revenge will be the name of the game in Columbus this Saturday, as Ohio State looks to even the score following last season's loss to Joe Paterno's Nittany Lions. Although Penn State are listed as 16.5 point underdogs, they are 11-10 all-time versus the Buckeyes. Paterno and the Lions, however, will have to shut down Heisman Trophy favorite Troy Smith who has thrown for 769 yards and seven touchdowns this season.
Speaking of revenge, Notre Dame will be out for some against Michigan State, following last year's 44 - 41 overtime loss to the Spartans in South Bend. The thirteenth-ranked Irish, listed as a 3-point favorite, will also be looking to avenge last Saturday's thrashing from the Michigan Wolverines. The Spartans, meanwhile, have won seven of the last nine match-ups against Notre Dame and are coming off an impressive 38-23 victory over Pittsburgh.
Out west, 22nd-ranked Arizona State will be battling for their first victory over 21st-ranked California since 2000. Although the Golden Bears are listed as 7.5-point favorites, the Sun Devils are 3-0, lead the nation in sacks with 18 and possess the Pac-10's leading passer in sophomore quarterback Rudy Carpenter.
